Zu seiner Blütezeit war das „Eierhäuschen“ ein beliebtes und nicht unbedeutendes Berliner Ausflugslokal, dessen Anfang auf eine kleine Schifferkneipe zurückgeführt wird, die in den 20er Jahren des 19. Jahrhunderts auf dem ehemaligem Gutsacker hinter dem Kienwerder aus dem Wächterhäuschen, einer Holzablage an der Spree, entstand.
